The Scanning Process
Preparation
Depending on the scan type, you may be asked to maintain a full bladder to ensure the clearest possible imaging of pelvic structures.
Live Imaging
Dr. Smitha or a specialist sonographer applies a water-based gel and uses a transducer to capture real-time images on the monitor.
Results Review
The findings are discussed immediately or documented in a comprehensive report to guide your ongoing treatment plan.

Ultrasound FAQ
Common questions regarding the safety and procedure of medical ultrasound imaging.
Yes. Ultrasound uses sound waves rather than radiation, making it completely safe for both the mother and the developing fetus during all stages of pregnancy.
Usually, a full bladder is required for transabdominal pelvic and early pregnancy scans to "lift" the uterus and provide a better viewing window. We will advise you specifically when you book your appointment.
2D scans provide flat, black-and-white images used for medical diagnostics. 3D scans show static 3-dimensional images, while 4D scans provide a live, moving video of the fetus.
